Video from Yesterday at Children's

Video of Zimmerman and Cartwright at Children's National Medical Center yesterday for Mason's Super Stars

Mason's Super Stars!

I want to give a special thanks to Ryan Zimmerman of the Nationals who came out and supported Mason's Super Stars at the National Children's Medical Center, along with Redskins players Rock Cartwright, Shaun Shuisham (and his gorgeous wife Erin), and Kedric Golston.

The guys were incredible, all coming out and playing with the kids, signing autographs, etc. out of the goodness of their heart, not because the team asked them to. They did me a big favor, and in turn touched the lives of the hundreds of kids, family members, and nurses who look up to them for their strength and dedication. It can be pretty scary even for a big football player to see the tiniest little guys fighting for their life. I think all the athletes would agree with me that while the commotion may have been around their visit, the real Super Stars were the kids undergoing chemo who possess a courage and strength unknown to them.

Mason's Super Stars is a monthly event we hold at the National Children's Medical Center in memory of Mason Leach who passed away last October. A super star on and off the field, Mason loved it when athletes, like D.C. United player Bobby Boswell, would come visit him during his treatments. In his memory, the Leach family started a fund to provide Target giftcards to the Super Star patients of the month, empowering them during a time where the patients may feel pretty helpless. Also special thanks to Edy's Ice Cream for the ice cream the players got to pass out on the floor to the children undergoing chemo, and to Eric Shuster of Comcast SportsNet for arranging Comcast to come and film! Hope you saw it last night!!

Please support the fund in any way you can:

"In an effort to showcase the pain involved in deforestation, Harrison willingly subject himself to the painful process of stripping his chest of all its follicles,” according to Access Hollywood.

Washington National's Opening Party

Don't miss out on tomorrow night's party at K Street Lounge celebrating the 2008 season for the Washington Nationals!

Re-cap of a not-so-typical DC night ;-)

Last night was incredible. Rushing from a meeting in Dupont to the Reiss store in Georgetown for the Smithsonian Young Benefactor's Fashion Show, I was, as my love James Cornwall said, "A hot mess". Sweaty from walking 17 blocks (I'm really big on walking) in the gorgeous sun in a suit, I'd describe it more so as, "Not so cute". With the magic possessed only by the PR and Partners team, I soon went from blah to glam, rocking a faux-hawk and fierce make-up as I strutted my stuff down the red carpet. (Note to self: Thank goodness I just joined SCLA bc I need to drop about 15 pounds to fit into those clothes) Mama gave me child bearing hips, and heck, I swayed til even the Richter Scale couldn't take the heat. Grabbing the fabulous swag bag, I pulled an Irish Exit and hopped in a cab over to Kalorama. Did a mini-undo so I wouldn't be too severe for the next event, but it was awesome having the hair and make-up already done!

One of the greatest events I have been blessed to attend in D.C., last night was a small and private celebration for Special Olympics with the guest of honor being birthday boy Quincy Jones. (Happy 75th Q!) Quincy has inspired me since I was a kid through his work with NetAid. His philanthropic efforts have reached every corner of the world, touching the lives of those that need it most. His influence in making the world a better place could be seen on the faces of everyone, from the Special Olympic Medalists to Congressman Patrick Kennedy and the entire Shriver Family who took turns acting as Emcees. Hearing the words of Condi and Stevie Wonder celebrate Quincy's efforts made such a huge impact, showing that one person really can make a difference. It was a whos-who of Washington all congregating on the back patio, it wasn't a networking event for business, it was a celebration of a brighter future. Words don't do justice in expressing the honor it was to be in the same room as these people who have actually walked the walk, and changed the world. I have been involved with the Special Olympics since college and of all the athletes I know, those are the ones I really believe are heroes.

Unfortunately I missed out on Beauty Night Out, but I am sure it was a huge success! Can't wait to hear how everyone loved the gift bags, as I was stuffing them I was so jealous I wouldn't be able to pick one up- they looked phenomenal! All my best wishes, girls! Congratulations!

Off to another crazy day!

Support My Efforts for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

This Spring, The Madison has split into four teams to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Race for the Cure. We are each aiming to raise $500 and then we will be walking all together on June 7th. So many of the strongest women I know have battled breast cancer. They are the heroes of my every day life- like my grandmother Ethel Kennedy, my aunt Yvonne Michel, and good family friends Bonnie Savage and Francine Bion. In an era where it seems everyday there is tragic news of yet another loved one being affected by a detectable cancer, I hope each and everyone one of you feels compelled to walk for a cure. Join the Madison this Spring in making a difference...

The O Street Mansion

Celebrating Robyn, Tricia, Jeremy, and John's 30th birthday bash last night at the O Street Mansion was incredible! I had never heard of the place before but was stunned to discover the hidden gem tucked right around the corner from my house. The boutique bed-and-breakfast located at 2020 O Street looks like a typical row house, but enter through the lobby filled with knickknacks and you will find yourself mesmerized by hidden doors behind tables, bookcases, and mirrors and secret elevators taking you to the penthouse for a breathtaking view of the city I love so dearly. Like a labyrinth, all of the hallways unfold new adventures.

"The Mansion, five interconnected town houses, includes a Conservancy, Grand
Ballroom, European Wine Cellar, seven dining rooms, 12 conference rooms, 23
guest rooms, 32 secret doors, 18 fireplaces, all with state-of-the-art
technology."

I cannot count the numerous times I was lost as rooms seemed to disappear. Words don't do justice in describing DC's best kept secret- you even have to have a secret password to enter! Every last thing is also for sale, so bring your check book! While rooms go from $300-$3500 a night, you can just stop by for a Sunday brunch that's only $45 and inclusive of all the bubbly you can sip!! Thank you to the gorgeous and handsome hosts, I hope you enjoyed your celebration... I sure did! Happy hunting...

Qi Spa

I was blessed with the absolute must luxurious afternoon last Thursday at the Qi Spa in Georgetown. I endulged in a facial and massage and let me tell you, I floated out of there without a worry in the world. Tucked on the second floor, Qi spa provides a relaxing oasis right in the heart of the hustle and bustle. The Signature Hot Stone Massage was by the highlight of my week.

Qi Spa Signature Hot Stone Massage
"As described in ancient Tibetan medical
texts, heated river stones are used alone with jojoba oil massage the body,
exerting warmth and pressure on energy points. Its Yang power assists a smoother flow of Qi to rid toxins from the body. This harmonious treatment delivers profound healing power for your mental and physical well being."

I was also excited to see that they carry Alchemie-Forever brand products which I swear by! Kudos to Kadrieka who sent out the most stunning invitation I have ever received (it is actually still on my mantle as I write this, ha ha) and the dazzling swag bags complete with a Rose scented Spalasium candle, Bubalina body butter and shower gel!

Qi Spa is located at 3106 M Street, NW. (202) 333-6344 to make an appointment or go online!
